Dear Codas,

We have planned a wonderful retreat for Midwest Codas and hope you will join us for this fall Coda get-together. Illinois Coda had been thinking about doing a retreat for several years. When the idea of establishing an annual Region 3 retreat was introduced at last year’s conference meeting, we eagerly volunteered to host this event. My co-chair Roy Pyers proudly suggested his home town of Springfield, Illinois. I am happy to report that Springfield has transformed itself with the addition of the wonderful Lincoln Museum as a Midwest showplace. The downtown area is charming and revitalized. Nearby is the Illinois School for the Deaf which educated many of our parents. The hotel with its sleek modern décor, complementary full breakfast and other amenities is walking distance from the Amtrak station. We believe that by selecting Springfield, we have made our event more accessible to more Region 3 Coda’s. One of our goals is to attract new members to Illinois Coda and to that end; we are offering a one day only registration for area Coda’s. We are honored to be kicking off the first of the annual Region 3 retreats and promise you fun and memorable Coda moments in the land of Lincoln.
